Work Experience

At Tallowood we prepare students for the next steps after year 12 by providing opportunities for both in school and external work experience. All work experience programs prepare students for their transition to an appropriate post school placement.

Some students in years 10-12 have the opportunity to participate in external work experience. These have included Sunnyfield at Mt Druitt, Endeavour Foundation at Castle Hill and Disability Services Australia at Seven Hills. During these work placements, students are supported by school staff to experience what it is like in a real world work environment at an Australian Disability Enterprise.

Students in Year 7-12 participate in "in school work experience". Some of these activities include: preparing food for tuck shop, serving customers via a drinks trolley, collecting recycling for the Return and Earn program, caring for the Tallowood Farm and garden, working with The Men's Shed, and cooking and selling cakes.

Tallowood is proud to be able to provide students with individualised valuable work experiences.
